It is now possible for Queue subscribers (requires login) to access their Queue Data Stores using the NNTP protocol. NNTP is the "News" protocol -- to read news you should use a news reader client such as Outlook Express or Mozilla. Each Queue Data Store that you can see will appear as a Newsgroup, and each entry in that store as a news article.

This feature is currently in beta (as of 6/30/2003), meaning that it is largely functional but not yet complete. To access your Queue Data Stores using NNTP you will need to configure your news reader to connect to www.irondust.com on port 119 (the default NNTP port). Use your Queue username and password to make this connection.

In Outlook Express, you can add an NNTP account by selecting "Accounts..." under the "Tools" menu. Once there, make sure "News" is selected along the tabs at the top and then select "Add...News...". Enter in your name and the email address you are using for Queue notifications. When prompted for server information enter "www.irondust.com" as your NNTP server and specify that this server requires authentication. When prompted for your username and password, enter in your Queue login information. Once the account is created, you should be ready to go, just close out all of the remaining windows by clicking "Ok" until you are back to your news reader.

Now, when you are back in the main window, make sure you can see the folders on the left. If you don't, select the "View" menu, then "Layout..." Make sure the "Folder List" box is checked. In the folder list you should see the new account you just created. Right click on the account and select "Newsgroups...". Select the groups you would like to see and then select "Subscribe".

Outlook Express supports downloading all articles for offline viewing on a group by group basis. If you are on a machine that is occassionally in offline mode, you may want to download all the articles while you are connected.

This implementation of NNTP is still incomplete. You should be able to see your Data Stores, the entries within them, and to post new entries into Data Stores to which you have sufficient access. If you cannot even perform these activities, please email IronDust, LLC at the address shown at the bottom of the screen.

Thank you.
